I graduated in the top 10% of my class and was also selected as the All Austin Girl. I participated in volleyball, track and field, and basketball where I was team captain and received multiple achievements throughout my four years at Austin. During my senior year, I was the vice president of the National Honor Society and a co-president of the senior class. I plan to further my academic career at the University of Texas at El Paso where I will be majoring in biological sciences. After I receive my bachelor’s degree, I will continue on to medical school  to become a pediatrician. Eventually my main goal is to work within the pediatric oncology field. My inspiration sparked from my maternal grandfather who passed away on June 14, 2011 from cancer. Since then, I knew she wanted to build her career around helping improve and prolong life for those who have similar illnesses. I am goal driven, motivated, hardworking, and very tenacious. I handle any difficulties set in my path with ease and hope to continue doing so with the rest of her educational career.

My name is Joseph Gonzalez, and I am an El Paso born student who, after spending seven years in Arizona, has been blessed enough to be an Austin High School graduate. I have a history of family members who have attended Austin, as well as a sister who is currently employed as a teacher. Austin has nurtured me in a myriad of ways including, academics, music, and as an overall member of our society as well. Being surrounded by the various incredible instructors and peers that constantly have pushed me to seek my goals and aspirations of becoming a cello professor have inspired me in a way I believe that no other school could have. I will be attending the wonderful university of Texas at El Paso to pursue my bachelors in cello performance. While most find that degrees in music can be seen as unnecessary, and in some extreme cases, a waste of time and resources, there is nothing else I can imagine that will fulfill both my needs and desires to this extent. However, for far too long, I allowed myself to give into those preconceived notions that music is not a viable path, but being a panther has thankfully changed that. As a result of four years of hard work and an incredible learning environment, I am glad to be moving forward as an Austin High School graduate that will be attending UTEP to pursue my passions with nothing holding me back.

Being brought up in a Hispanic household consisted of the occasional yelling and discipline from my parents, but it was also filled with lots of laughter, love, and most importantly, cumbias. Nevertheless, because I was the oldest, I was expected to set the standard for my siblings, which was quite stressful, but as I kept growing and developing as a person, I found that my parents just wanted to see me succeed. Furthermore, if there is one quality I pride myself to possess, it would be hard working. Throughout my twelve years in school, I have learned that a strong work ethic is needed in order to do well in academics, but it comes with a cost. I have endured many sleepless nights studying for upcoming quizzes or finishing assignments that are due the next day. Staying up ‘til sunrise or skipping lunch in order to complete my homework, in my eyes, was worth the sacrifice. Regardless if I go throughout the day exhausted, I knew that my effort would be well rewarded in the future, and my experience in facing these challenges will better equip me when presented with these same obstacles. As hard as I’ve worked at my studies, is the same dedication I have invested in my love for music. Being selected as a drum major during my senior year of high school was an honor but was a big responsibility. Drum Majors are supposed to be the bridge between the students and directors, and not only are they required to possess qualities of confidence, integrity, and humility, but are essential to become a good leader.  As a freshman transitioning from middle school to high school, I failed to realize how band could be so demanding, but after four long years of hard work and perseverance, I can confidently state, that I now possess attributes of leadership. Overall, I see myself pursuing a criminal justice degree while in college, in hopes that I can one day protect and serve my community, while also being a forthright individual that treats others with respect and humility.

I was born October 24, 2001 at Sierra Medical Hospital. For most of childhood I lived in central El Paso. I graduated elementary school at Clendenin Elementary. I graduated from Bassett Middle School and my dad beat cancer. I pursued my education at Austin High School and continued living in central until my sophomore year. During the summer leading to my Junior year, my family and I moved to Chaparral, New Mexico. I decided to continue my studies at Austin High School and my parents  drove me there every day. During my high school years, I participated in Orchestra, Band, Mariachi, Soccer, Cross Country, Track and Field, and National Honors Society. I finished my high school years being number 10 in the Top 10 and with a GPA of 3.9. I plan to continue my studies at New Mexico State University and Major in Computer Science- Cyber Security. Dylan Mauldin
Stella Adams Memorial Scholarship $1000

Hello, my name is Dylan Mauldin. Growing up as a little kid I saw and had to experience things a lot sooner than others and even some things that not even some adults come across in their lifetime. These events helped shape me into the person I am today.  In school I was always one of those kids who would always work hard and was always willing to give that extra hand at any giving time.  I will be graduating from the first class of Sandra Day O’Connor Law Enforcement Academy/ Panther New Tech. Throughout my 4 years at Austin I played baseball and basketball. My sophomore year I joined the National Honors Society, and the last two years I was a student trainer. My senior year I was co-class president. For my 1st 2 years at Austin my plans for a career kept changing but it took one event to change my thoughts. I tore my meniscus my sophomore year and when I started my rehab to get back on my playing fields I fell in love with the way that athletes have someone they can go to when they need it. After that I was interested in athletic training and from there I wanted to learn more and more everyday about their roles. This helped me pick a career I would like to go into. This fall i will be attending The University of Texas Permian Basin, I’m also blessed to be on the student trainer staff at the university. I'm proud to say that I'm from El Paso, Texas and Austin High School.
